This three-hour course is designed to meet your needs for education in the area most requested by radiation therapy professionals - patient positioning and immobilization.
The workshop offers a comprehensive overview of patient positioning an immobilization - from its history, to its importance for today’s treatment techniques, to workable solutions using a variety of devices and techniques.
After this seminar participants will be able to:

Recognize the technical difficulties in localization of target volume

Determine the importance of the geometric relationship between the patient and the radiation beam as it is applied in three dimensions

Understand the importance of precise positioning and the need for daily reproduction

Appreciate the history of patient fixation methods and their impact on today’s techniques

Recognize each of the current positioning methods their strengths and limitations

Determine the appropriate immobilization technique for each anatomical area

Recognize strengths and limitations of each technique and their applications to simple intermediate and complex treatments
